Pastor: Adam Sanftner
Adam Graduated from Covenant Theological Seminary with a Masters in Divinity in 2012. He served in church ministry since 2010. “I came to faith as a young child & ever since the Lord has patiently taught me what that means through His power, presence, compassion, and forgiveness.
I am so grateful that the Lord has brought me to Farmington and I have deeply enjoyed becoming part of the community of St. Francois County and am deeply joyful to work alongside servants of the Lord of such genuine love and authenticity.”

How did you find Jesus?
I met Jesus in the context of loneliness during my winter quarter as a college freshman. The transition to college the previous fall had been paved with lots of easy friendships- superficial and fun. But they vanished. Winter is cold in Central Illinois and I was mocked by my inner cold and isolation. But I decided, out of habit I suppose, to show up at church one Sunday in January. The service was non-traditional. The students were in charge of all aspects of the service that day.
I dutifully occupied a spot in the back row of the choir. I distinctly remember the “testimonies” of two women students who shared their Christian experiences. These were not stories so much about spiritual matters, but real, practical, day to day matters. One needed financial assistance to remain in school.
It had reached a crisis point. She prayed and was led to a job in the administration office. Clearly, it seemed, God is interested in these kinds of things. The other student’s story also expressed this kind of relational day to day faith.
As I was thinking about this, it seemed that Jesus showed up at my elbow and asked me if I wanted a relationship like that: the relationship of a faithful friend. I acquiesced: I suppose willingness had been created in me. Immediately, quietly, without my moving a muscle or saying a word, I sensed His indwelling presence. He has remained.

How do you want to see the Lord bless our community?
I want to see the Lord glorify Himself through the churches in the area. I want to see the people of St. Francois grow in deep & intimate relationships with the Lord. I have passion to see people get the care they need in homes & hospitals & to see the gospel go out in our neighborhoods, & restaurants, & in every place the Lord puts His people. Most of all, I want to see the Lord glorify Himself through His power in His people which allows them to live for Him in His will, in His work & in His love.

What is your passion for ministry?
Seeking truth, mercy, and grace; and building a community of love and fellowship as a Christ follower. I have a passion for community outreach and to see the Christian women of Saint Francois County unite for the mutual encouragement and to see the churches of our community to unite for the worship and service of Jesus.
Right now I am seeking for what is next in in mission and ministry after closing the chapter of my medical career; working on my poetry and on my role in the church both local and universal church.
